The brief for this newly extended cottage was to create colourful cottage garden style borders without too much maintenance. The cottage had fairly narrow borders and most were planted up with roses, peonies, lavender penstemons, nepeta and alchemilla. The shady border by the house had a Sarcococca and a Daphne for scent and then ferns, Hostas and Brunnera.
